Career English Inc. · In-App & External Deletion Procedures

In compliance with Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v) and Google Play User Data policies, Career English provides transparent, verifiable options to permanently delete your user account and associated personal data.

⚠️ Critical Notice Regarding App Store & Google Play Subscriptions

Deleting your Career English account does NOT automatically cancel recurring subscriptions billed through Apple or Google Play.

Platform app stores process billing independently from application accounts. To avoid future renewal charges, you must cancel your subscription directly in your device account settings:

Method 1: Instant In-App Deletion (Recommended)

If you have the Career English app installed on your phone, you can permanently delete your account immediately with automatic server verification:

  1. Open the Career English mobile app.
  2. Tap Account & Progress in the top navigation bar or home dashboard.
  3. Scroll down to the Account & Data Management card.
  4. Tap the red Delete Account button.
  5. Review the subscription reminder and confirm the two-step verification prompt.

Upon confirmation, our backend Edge Function instantly purges your authentication record from Supabase Auth and removes all linked database subscription rows. Your local progress is wiped, and you are logged out immediately.

Method 2: External Deletion Request (Web Portal)

If you uninstalled the mobile app, lost device access, or are unable to log in, you can submit an external deletion request using the form below.

Identity Protection & Processing Notice: To prevent unauthorized deletion of learner accounts, external web requests do not immediately delete accounts automatically. Our operations team manually reviews submissions, verifies account ownership, and fulfills deletion within 7 to 14 business days (maximum 30 calendar days). As automated confirmation emails are not sent during email provisioning, please retain your Reference ID upon submission. You can check the status of your request at any time by contacting support@careerenglish.app quoting your Reference ID.
Between 3 and 255 characters. Provide the email used for Career English or the User ID from your purchase receipt.

What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted

  • Supabase Auth Identity: Your user record in Supabase Auth is permanently erased. You will no longer be able to sign in with this identity.
  • Learning Progress & Drafts: All completed lesson history, self-review checklists, focus goals, and written practice draft notes are deleted.
  • Database Entitlements: Active and previous subscription mapping rows in our database are deleted via automatic database cascade.
  • Voice Practice Recordings: All voice practice audio is strictly processed on-device; no cloud voice recordings exist on our servers. Local audio cache is cleared upon deletion.

Exceptions & Required Retention

To comply with international financial accounting, tax, and anti-fraud regulations, anonymous payment event logs (which record that a subscription was purchased or renewed without storing personal identifiable details) have their user ID set to NULL and are preserved in anonymized form.
